Since 1995, registered as a non-governmental society COAI has recently announced the appointment of Vodafone’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sunil Sood as its new Chairman. COAI is dedicated to the advancement of modern communication through the establishment of world-class mobile infrastructure while delivering the benefits of innovative.
Telecom industry body, COAI said in the statement that Vodafone India Ltd Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer will now hold the position of Chairman while the Vice Chairman will be Ajai Puri.
The latest leadership announced at COAI’s annual general body meeting for the financial year.
COAI Director General Rajan S Mathews said that the team would like to thank the leadership for their guidance and support during one of the most challenging periods in the telecom as well as further express confidence in their ability to steer the Association.
Further, Mathews added that the sector contributes 6.5 percent to the national GDP whereas the industry is reeling under Rs 7.64 lakh crore debt. Approximately, the additional investment of two lakh crore is still required over the next two years to fulfill the digitally connected India.
Since April 2015, Sood has been the MD and CEO of Vodafone India. Previously, Sood served as the Chief Operating Officer at Vodafone India Limited. Since 2004, Puri has been with Bharti Airtel and held several senior leadership positions such as Director and CEO, Market Operations.
