Johann Zarco To Join 2019 KTM Season

A Grand Prix motorcycle racer from France, Johann Zarco will ride for KTM factory team in 2019 and 2020. Last year, Zarco made his MotoGP debut with the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team. France racer will replace Bradley Smith and partner with Pol Espargaro at KTM season.

At the time of 2007, France racer won the Red Bull Rookies Cup championship, also he has won the Moto2 title twice. From November 2017, rumors linking Zarco to KTM have been floating. Zarco’s KTM deal is not a sign not only of his significance as a rider but also his future as a potential MotoGP winner along with world champion. Zarco currently tied for fourth in the MotoGP championship standings with Cal Crutchlow.

KTM motorsports director Pit Beirer said, “It is clear that we want to take another step in MotoGP.” Further, he added, “The first two years were about building up the project and to get everything running. You always want to get the best possible riders on board and it’s obvious with Johann beating the factory guys on satellite machinery and consistently qualifying on the front row means he is a strong fighter with a strong spirit.”

Many sports bike manufacturers were known to be interested in France racer, however, its decision to break off a pre-agreement it had with him in 2016.
