SMIC Brings Chip Technology Up to Speed with Government Support

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. plays an important role in China’s development as it brings chip technologies up to speed with the help of government support. SMIC’s Co-Chief Executive, Liang Mong-song will lead the program to continues future growth.

Liang Mong-song said, “We have not captured the great opportunity in China because of lack of technology readiness.” Further, he added that technology development is must in term of long-run growth and hoping for expected results.

Liang said that SMIC all set to test 14-nanometer FinFET process innovation in mid-2019 which is precisely like TSMC’s 16nm procedure innovation embraced by Apple for iPhone 7 out of 2016.

Company’s other co-chief executive, Zhao Haijun said, “Looking forward to 2018, we will continue to confront increasing competition, pricing pressure, and slow growth in certain end-markets.”
